Rosemary honey harvest

As it usually happens in this period, we already have all the settlements in rosemary production areas. The bees have come out healthy from the winter and are vigorously developing a new generation of bees that will grow their nests and ensure a new and good harvest of rosemary honey.

After the storm Gloria it was a bit difficult for us to reorganize and plan our work, as we found many roads and terraces flooded. However, we redirected the situation so that the bee, as a tireless gatherer, could enjoy, another year, the first flowers of almond, wild radish and rosemary. As beekeepers, we can only accompany the process so as to the bees find all the conditions to do their work.

One of the difficulties of February is that there are still many days when the cold and wind do not allow the bee to collect so much. This is a normal event in this age. What is more, a worrying aspect is the scarcity of water and the high temperatures we are unfortunately accustomed in these recent years. This shortens and advances the blooms in periods when the bee is not yet ready to take maximum advantage of the flowers. All this forces us to consider how the effects of climate change can affect bees, and therefore, it makes us to value the sustainability and importance of bees so as to we can offer the best honey in the best conditions.

It certifies that the food and beverages awarded exceeded the quality expectations of the members of the award jury composed of more than 120 chefs and sommeliers. It is a contest organized in Belgium.
